The Makeup Show New York

The Makeup Show gets bigger and better each year and the shows 7th edition in NYC was no exception. This year the show was attended by over 6,000 industry professionals and press from around the world. It was also my first time attending as press (yay me!).

This year the show was held on 5 floors at the Metropolitan Pavilion NYC on the 13th and 14 of May. Each floor was dedicated to a specific aspect of the show; 2 floors for exhibitor stands, hands on workshops, keynotes, seminars and demos.

Artists in attendance include Troy Jensen, Frances Hathaway, Kristofer Buckle, Johnny Lavoy, Matin, Sutan Amrull and of course The Makeup Show artists; Danessa Myricks, Orlando Santiago, James Vincent, Jon Hennessy and Esterique Aidan. They all shared secrets to their success and techniques in seminars and keynotes.

Of course the seminars are simultaneous so it’s physically impossible to attend then all. I wish I could though especially since this year I was more focused on education than bankrupting myself. I did attended a hand full of seminars and will be doing detailed posts on each one in the days to follow.

The brands present included the usual suspects; Makeup Forever, Inglot, Crown Brush, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Mac, Kett…

And some newbies (to the show); Magnolia Makeup (since last year), London Brush Company, Nars (they were present last year but didn’t have products for sale like they did this year), Makeup Designory was there and presented 2 full days of demos, The Career fair was also a makeup show 1st.

I had a great time in the show this year. The Makeup Show is a great opportunity for professionals to stock their kits thanks to generous discounts, and also the convenience of having all your favourite brands under one roof. Its also a great opportunity for networking.

If you missed The show, all is not lost. The Makeup Show will hold in 4 more destinations around the world this year, next stop Chicago on the 17th & 18th of June.
