Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette* comes in a black cardboard palette branded in black and gold. The palette is made of cardboard (as far as I can see) but doesn’t have that light weight cheap feel to it AT ALL. It feel slightly heavy in that quality makeup kind of way (hope that makes sense). Inside is a big mirror set in a cardboard pattern cut out and 12 eye shadows.
The palette contains 12 neutral shades of eye shadow; 3 larger shades contain 2.3g each and 9 smaller shades are 1.1g each. The shades are arranged in 3 quads; neutral, warm and cool each quad. Each quad is sufficient to create different looks as illustrated in the instruction sheet included. I of course us the shades all mixed up – blame the artist in me, but the instructions definitely make the palette more beginner friendly as it shows how to use each quad to create a smokey eye, a natural eye or a look to suit different eye shapes.
What makes this palette a big hit for me? The shades and the texture of the shadows. I am a sucker for neutral eye shadows. Not only do I prefer them personally but they are also the shades I use the most in my kit. 11 of the 12 shadows in this palette are matte and the 12th has a velvet type finish to it (matte with a slight hint of shimmer). With this palette I dare say you will not need any other neutral matte eye shadow in you collection so move over Brow Script, Shade & Light Contour Palette is here.
I LOVE the texture of these shadows, they are silky smooth to the touch, apply and blend easily. The pigmentation is also really good and Shax the black shade, apply with caution (its that black!)
This is one of those expensive but totally worth it palettes. Ordinarily I would say not to splurge on eye shadow since there are so many good budget eye shadows out there, matte shades however are tricky to get right (on a budget) and the texture of theses guys…worth every penny! The palette retails for $46/N14,000 for a total of 16.8g of products
Ok so I will stop my love letter to the Kat Von D Light & Shade Contour Eye palette* here. I’m sure you can already tell what I think of this palette but in case you missed it… I LOVE! this palette. The 1 down side is the price point, this is an expensive eye shadow palette but I think its worth it and have no regrets at all about buying it. The matte shades might also be a downer for you so if you do not like matte eye shadows this palette is obviously not for you.
