Product Review: Mac Matte Eye Shadows; Plumage, Lime & Free to be

I recently picked up 3 Mac matte eye shadow refills pans. I got Plumage, a dark blue green. Free to be, a salmon shade and Lime, a lime green shade with yellow under tones. Free to be and Lime are from the “Dare to wear” collection, which is Lady Gaga inspired.

Swatches…

Plumage, Lime and Free to be

Verdict:
Plumage has really good color pay off but… it is powdery and loose. You are bound to let loose a lot more product than you need at the touch of your brush, so watch out for fall out! Lucky for me Eb gave me a heads up so I knew what to expect, thanks girl.
Free to be and Lime have a smooth powdery texture but poorer color pay off. I also found them to be hard to blend, and practically impossible to layer on. Free to be can work as blush too especially on lighter skin tones.

I got these in their refill pans in the hope of putting them in my MUFE magnetic palette. Unfortunately I found the strength of their magnets very weak. They stick but with a little shake they get loose :-(. I have never heard this complaint before so I guess it might be specific to the MUFE magnetic palette? They are also available in the regular individual packaging though.

Lime is a Pro shade so you can only get it in a MacPro store, Free to be and Plumage are regular.
They all retail at 12.50 for 1.5g in the refill pan and 16.50€ in the regular packaging.

Honestly I am disappointed with these, I expected a better from Mac. This is my first bad experience with Mac eye shadows. If I could do it over I would get only Plumage.

Hope this helps someone,

u're very welcome girl. plumage is a beautiful colour. i would use a cream base and then pat on the colour rather than sweep.
