Matchmaster foundation is different from other Mac foundations in a number of ways.
Ironically the Matchmaster foundation comes in a lot less shades than other Mac foundations; 14 shades as opposed to the usual 33.
The new shade system is numbered 1 through 10 including 1.5, 7.5, 8.5 and 9.5 instead of the NW NC system. The up side to this new system is that each shade is “compatible” with many skin tones; this is probably a good idea for building a pro kit.
Did you notice I used the word “compatible” above? Well that’s because to this day, I haven’t found my perfect match. I walked into a Mac store to get matched and wasn’t able to find a perfect match. The closest was 8.5, it looks good but once all over my face it has an orangey look to it, after I set my foundation with powder the orange hue totally disappears 🙂

Matchmaster foundation is formulated to give a flawless semi-matte finish while letting your natural skin tone shine though, hence remaining natural-ish.
Matchmaster foundation comes in a 35ml glass bottle with pump. A refreshing relieve (the pump) especially if you are buying many of these for a kit, although the glass bottles are quite heavy. It contains a little more product that the other Mac liquid foundations (30ml-35ml) and also costs a bit more as well (30.50Euros-29.50Euros), considering the contents however the Matchmaster foundation is technically cheaper than the studio fix fluid.Why I will buy this product again?
Mac Matchmaster foundation is buildable; I can apply a light layer and go heavy only on areas where I need extra coverage. It’s also easy to blend so it all looks nice and even at the end of the application.
I have really oily skin but managed to go about 7 hours without needing to touch up. The semi-matte finish from of the foundation plus my setting powder= An outing sans touch up= Happy Oily Girl.
I should mention that the Matchmaster foundation has quite a strong smell to it. The smell is most obvious during application and few minutes later the smell is only detectable upon very close (nose to face) contact.

I like it too. Tried it at the mac stand but the chick was saying I'm 8.5. Lai lai.will probably get 7.5 cos mac stuff tend to oxidise and get darker.did u hav any issues with oxidation?

Nope, once I set it with powder it stayed put. I suggest you try the 7.5 first before you getting though, just to be sure…x

I also tried it on and the girl told me 9.0, I think its okay sha but i'd rather see it in natural light. im normally somewhere in between studio fix NW45 and NW50, some people say im NW45, some say im NW50 so in short I have the two *rme* Just out of curiousity Stella what shade are u in the NW series? x

Hey Lammy, I'm an NW45. I understand the natural light thing. Try it on (maybe at a store in a mall) go shopping/move around and see how you feel about it at the end of the day…x
